DMAM Elects New Leaders

Kuala Lumpur, 30 July 2009 (1800 HRS)-The Direct Marketing Association Of Malaysia (DMAM) held their 4th Annual General Meeting at the Bangsar Seafood Garden Restaurant, Level 1 ,One Bangsar, No. 63 Jalan Ara, Bangsar Baru, Kuala Lumpur.

This was the election year and members present had to elect the new office bearers and committee members for the new term which would commence from 2009 until 2011.

The new office bearers were elected through a nomination and voting process. Sreedhar Subramaniam from the Malaysian Insider retained his post as the President of the Association. The post of Vice President went to Ray Choo, head of Direct Marketing, AIA. Regina Foo Country Manager from Reader’s Digest Malaysia was elected as Honourable Treasurer and Jason Sinclair John head of Direct Marketing and CRM at Arc Worldwide was elected as Honourable Secretary.

The rest of the committee members included Daniel Teh from POS Malaysia, Sam Chan from Grey Direct Interactive, Connie Yap from Fujixerox and Guay Chin Chye from Proximity, Nina Mohamed Nor from Rapp Collins and Selina Ang from Ogilvy One.

Sreedhar outlined the plans for the year, which includes plans for the launch of the new code of ethics for Direct Marketing practice in Malaysia which will self regulate the association and its members, thus gaining more control over the practice and use of Direct Marketing in Malaysia.

Other plans include organizing two networking sessions for members, possibly one major seminar with International speakers and the much anticipated Annual Direct Marketing Awards event which will be held year end showcasing some of the best direct and digital work and campaigns from top agencies and brands in the country.

Sreedhar Subramaniam, President of the DMAM said, “This is the 10th year that we are organizing an event to appreciate and honor works that have resulted in tangible results. Increasingly, we see more clients adopting direct marketing as an integral mix of the marketing campaign and it is incumbent upon us to provide out-of-the-box ideas to drive the business objective.”

The Direct Marketing Association of Malaysia was founded in 2003 and represents direct marketers, advertising agencies and consultants, and vendors, including lettershoppers, printers, database owners and software providers.

Monthly meetings between committee members are held to plan and organize association activities for the year. In a reflection of the high standards adopted in selecting the winners, there was a total of 69 awards were presented, which included 2 Gold, 4 silvers, 20 bronzes and 37 merits.
