
DMAM Awards Night 2008
Kuala Lumpur, 5 December 2008: The recent Direct Marketing Association Of Malaysia (DMAM) Awards Night was a showcase of innovative ideas that drew in its audience through the intriguing display of ingenuity.
Held at the Saloma Bistro, Jalan Ampang, the event saw over 180 guests from the direct marketing and digital industry coming together to honor results-driven creativity. Themed “If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t win”, the DMAM awards submission had overwhelming response with over 190 entries received from six agencies. The entries were judged by a panel of seven respected industry leaders, including Graham Kelly as Chief Judge, Lee Siew Tin from Ogilvy Malaysia, Valerie Chen from Arc Worldwide, David Sin from G2 Kuala Lumpur, Genista Tan from DiGi Telecommunications, Fazlee from Rapp Collins and Paul McLean from Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific.
Sreedhar Subramaniam, President of the DMAM said, “This is the tenth year that we are organizing an event to appreciate and honor works that have resulted in tangible results. Increasingly, we see more clients adopting direct marketing as an integral mix of the marketing campaign and it is incumbent upon us to provide out-of-the-box ideas to drive the business objective.”
In a reflection of the high standards adopted in selecting the winners, there was a total of 69 awards were presented, which included 2 Gold, 4 silvers, 20 bronzes and 37 merits.
BBDO Proximity was the big winner with a haul of 2 (two) golds, 1 (one) silver, 7 (seven) bronzes and 11 (eleven) merits. Ogilvy and G2 Kuala Lumpur were second and third respectively.
Sam Chan, Business Head of G2 Direct Interactive and also the Organizing Chairperson of the DMAM, said, “With a challenging economic landscape ahead, clients are looking at work that don’t only cut-through, but actually provides good ROI. Personal engagement with the customer is not only desirable, but essential to ensure continued brand growth. The trick is to get an idea to work on the selected medium, be it digital or print.”
This year’s event was organized by DMAM and G2 Direct Interactive.
